The Role and Readiness of Semiconductor Technology for the 4th Industrial Revolution
The advancement of IT technology is changing our daily lives in various ways. A rapid surge for abundant data usage and the adaptation of artificial intelligence are creating this new 4th industrial revolution era. Human brain collects, thinks, stores, and transports information; and semiconductor technology can implement such human functions. All of our future products that we are preparing require these functions of semiconductor, and this technology market is growing rapidly. In order to catch up with these demands, semiconductor is rigorously innovating such products as DRAM, Flash, Logic, CIS, and Package, but the key factor is the development of equipment and materials. In order to overcome patterning limitation, to enhance device performance, and to create new devices, the development of core equipments and new materials is becoming much more important. This definitely requires the continuous research and collaboration across the semiconductor industry, especially with equipment and material companies.
