STS (SEMI Technology Symposium)
Welcome Message from the Chairman for SEMICON Korea STS 2020
On behalf of the STS program committee, it is my great honor and privilege to welcome all our distinguished speakers and participants to the SEMICON Korea STS (SEMI Technology Symposium) 2020.
The Korean semiconductor industry recorded the largest exports in the recent memory boom continued for the few years. Therefore, semiconductor industry became the most significant growth driver of national economy. In addition, as the semiconductor industry plays more and more important role to successfully develop AI, cloud and 5G technologies, we now have a strong confidence and expectation that new opportunities are ahead of us.
Meanwhile, the situation was different in 2019 as the semiconductor industry went through a rough year, showing sluggish records due to unfavorable market situations. We learn that the huge reputation comes along with a strong sense of responsibility. In order to turn a crisis into an opportunity, we need both continuous technology innovation and the collaboration among industry leaders, research institutes and academia. And I expect this symposium would play a vital role in fostering technology innovation and collaboration.
In the SEMICON Korea STS 2020, participants would be able to understand many state-of-the-art technologies and the next-generation technology development trend, as meaningful presentations will be featured from six different areas; Lithography, Interconnection, Device, Etch, Cleaning & CMP and Package. This year’s symposium would allow participants to meet meaningful and invaluable contents from global thought leaders.
I hope that this symposium would serve as a venue where researchers in the academia, research institutions and the industry would share their creative ideas and take them to the next level. And I would like to ask for your continuous support and active participation in the SEMICON Korea STS, which has played a crucial role in a rapidly-changing world where digital technology advancements have strongly driven paradigm shifts in an unpresented pace.
Lastly, on behalf of the SEMICON Korea STS 2020 Committee, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to participants, guest speakers from in and out of the country, and those who have worked hard to prepare for this year’s symposium as well as SEMI staffs.
Thank you very much.
