Youin Choung

“YOUIN CHOUNG”, Ph.D. was the leader of "Planning & Scheduling System" team for 5 years and has been "MES(Manufacturing Execution System)" group for 2 years under DT(Digital Transformation) department at SK hynix. The role of MES group is development and operation of systems for production planning and scheduling, equipment control, AMHS (Automated Material Handling System), etc. on FAB and backend line. 

Prior to joining SK hynix, “CHOUNG” was a principal engineer and project leader for a semiconductor manufacturing company. During his 18 years at the company, “CHOUNG” spent developing and operating of systems related on SCM (Master planning, Demand planning, Factory planning etc.), capacity planning, production scheduling and simulation on semiconductor FAB, backend line, and LED line. In addition to, “CHOUNG” was a researcher and visiting scholar in Arizona State University, Georgia Institute of Technology in USA, and Ajou University in Korea and visit UC. Berkeley in USA and Ilmenau University of Technology in Germany to work with professors. 

“CHOUNG” received a Ph.D. and Master’s degrees in industrial engineering from KAIST, Korea and a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the SungKyunKwan University, Korea. The title of his Ph.D. thesis is “Production scheduling in a system with batch processing machines”, and he published several research papers in European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Research, Computers and Operations Research, and OR Spectrum.
