Hyukhwa Kwon

Hyukhwa Kwon received his B.S (2008), M.S (2010), and PH.D. Cand. (2022) degrees in the Department of Environmental Engineering at Ajou University. He conducted research on product life cycle assessment (LCA) and development of Ecodesign methodology that integrates sustainability aspects. 

He has worked as an environmental engineer at SK hynix since 2011, worked as a member of the Korea Environmental Product Declaration Certified Assessor in 2014, and is currently the team leader of the Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Policy R&D team. He has been working as an industrial director of the Korean Institute of Hazardous Materials in the field of academic research since 2023. In addition, he conducted research presentations on the following topics: “Water resource policy suggestions in the semiconductor industry,” “Hazardous substances management law policy suggestions,” “Establishment of an automated wastewater toxicity monitoring system,” “Carbon footprint of semiconductor product (CFP) certification research,” and “LCA research” at international and domestic academic conferences, reviewed SK hynix's research status and shared insights with experts. 

And since 2017, he has participated in the World Semiconductor Council (WSC) as the Korean chair and is conducting working group meetings with overseas semiconductor (chip maker) manufacturing countries on greenhouse gases, chemicals, and water resources, and was appointed as the chair of the Water WG section in 2022.
