Kyong Hon Kim, Ph.D. is CEO of PhotoniSol Inc., which is a startup company launched with spin-off technologies from a university laboratory. PhotoniSol Inc. has been established in 2020 to commercialize integrated optical isolator chips based on silicon photonics. He has been working with photonic devices over 30 years as a researcher, technical director, government project planning member, and professor. During recent 10 years, he has focused on development of optical isolator chips for mass-productable and practically useful devices. He is responsible to commercialize the optical isolator chips as a CEO of the startup company which is a recipient of financial investment from various investment associations.
Prior to launching PhotoniSol Inc., Kyong Hon Kim was a research member at NASA Langley Research Center developing spaceborne lasers for solar-power transformer and LiDAR applications during his early technical carrier period, a technical member and director at a research institute, ETRI, Korea developing optical communication devices during next 14 years, and then a professor at Inha University teaching and researching silicon photonic devices recent tens years. He also served as one of key members in a government planning committee for photonic technology R&D projects during this research institute period.
Kyong Hon Kim received a Ph.D. degree in physics from State University of New York at Buffalo, USA. He has authored and co-authored over tens patents and 100 technical journal papers.
