Prof. Hyun-Jung Kim

Associate Professor, KAIST (invited)

Hyun-Jung Kim, Ph.D, has been an Associate Professor at KAIST since 2019. Kim specializes in addressing complex scheduling challenges in semiconductor manufacturing systems. Using mathematical analysis, optimization, and reinforcement learning, Kim has developed efficient algorithms for practical scheduling problems in wafer fabrication and other system operations. With a background in smart manufacturing, she collaborates extensively with Korean manufacturing companies.

Prior to joining KAIST, Kim was a researcher at University of California, Berkeley, where she focused on optimizing warehouse automation systems. After that, Kim dedicated 4.5 years to Sungkyunkwan University as an Assistant Professor.

Kim holds a Ph.D. in Industrial & Systems Engineering from KAIST, Daejeon, Korea. Kim serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters, IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering, and International Journal of Production Research. Her contributions were recognized with the 2022 Best Paper Award Honorable Mention from IEEE Transactions on Semiconductor Manufacturing.
